Instead of the word "horrible," I would say it is pretty much the usual. To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen any other heater in an RV other than the Suburban. It has certainly been in every one of mine. Some also have a heat strip in the AC unit or a heat pump with both heat and cool, but they require 120, while the Suburban heats from propane and a little 12v. (of course, the Tofino has no AC) My two rigs with a heat pump/AC also had the Suburban as back-up.
I have never been able to use those heaters at night as they wake me up every cycle. I use a 12v mattress pad and don't turn the heat on until morning.
BTW, that is the same heat system that is provided in RVs for 2 to 3 times the cost of a Tofino, which is pretty much the lowest price rig on the market these days.
