Default Personality conflicts, annoying posts etc.

Once in a while you may encounter someone on a forum that you just don't get along with or whose posts you find annoying.

You can choose to not let that person's posts affect you any way. You do not have to react to them. Don't give them the power to negatively affect your mood.

Sounds easy right

The people that make the forum software know that it sometimes isn't that easy so they built a forum tool into the software that is available for you to use if you find certain posters annoying.

It is in your User Control Panel (look upper left, near top of page for the User Control Panel). The tool is called Friends & Foes. Select "Manage foes" and add the offending poster to the list.

Quote:
Foes are users which will be ignored by default. Posts by these users will not be fully visible.
Try to choose to not let that person's posts affect you any way. If that doesn't work then try adding them to the Foe list.

None of us want to be ignored. If you don't want to be ignored then make sure to be respectful of other peoples point of view and choices.

It would be a shame to exclude yourself from someones knowledge because they offended you, so I would never think about using that foe button. I have usually exersized my ability to self edit , but to my shame have recently fallen short in this regard and am resolved to do better in the future.

Probably none. The tool is there for anyone who might find it useful.

Some folks have pretty thin skins it seems.

Mine's 9 layers thick!

There are some people that I might have clashes with over opinion, but I would say that other than the obvious trollers or spammers, anyone taking the time to come here usually has enough intelligence to have their posts worth reading.
