Overhead lights when you open the door - Older Class Bs

Which lights should come on when you open the doors? There are two reading lights above the driver and passenger. Should those come on?

Also, I need to get new running lights (recon lights or sometimes called trucker lightsO. The lights on the camper shell abover the windshield. I need the whole assembly, not just new bulbs. Have any of you ever replaced those?

1.) depends on how Dodge made it
- on many GM's there is a switch to disable courtesy lights under the headlight switch.

2.) I'd take one off and try to match for an LED style at truck stop, pep boys or Grainger supply, that way the wiring should be similar and the screw holes will be same- I'd seal these really well. take note of the length of the screws- you don;t want to go longer and poke through the interior.
There is no legal requirement for clearance lights on your B.

My '95 Dodge uses the dash lights dimmer switch to control interior lights when opening the doors. Crank the knob fully clockwise (at least I think it's CW and not CCW) to prevent these lights coming on.

The same dimmer knob not only controls the door's light switch, it also controls the power mirrors.

Humm,
Mine doesn't have an additional switch under the light knob. The switch for the lights does dim the dash lights if turned all the way clockwise. When turned all the way counter clockwise it doesn't turn any lights on. I feel like it should, but the lights don't come on. I checked the owners manual and didn't see a fuse for it....changed the lights on the over head and they don't work at all. Hummmm, gotta keep trouble shooting.

The mirrors are on a different knob all together and don't control any of my lights.

On my 05 RT Pop 210 (Chevy) the coach power has to be on or the map lights won't work.

On older models, (1990's RT etc.) the lights above the driver in the centre, have a switch beside the lights, that allows to turn them off or to be controlled by the door switches when the doors are opened. The headlight switch also will turn them on when turned all the way to the right.
