Default Only Diss thread

we need a thread to vent our disses. you cannot however DISS another member or their posts. You can only make the DISS about a product. be it van chassis-van rv product or maker-or components of these vans.

and Sprinter vans rust like crazy. The worst rusting vehicles made in the last 15 years! I've seen 2008 and newer models with holes all the way through on the rear doors. It's like the 70s all over again.

Well, I don't really have anything to diss at the moment. Every product is a compromise to a certain degree.

Every product has it's plusses and minuses. You just have to appreciate something for what it is, not what it isn't. Some people will declare something as junk if it's doesn't check all their personal boxes. It's kinda sad really.

What this board needs is more appreciation for the positive aspects of certain designs, and less of the elitism that seems to be overtaking it.

Not all of them. A lot of people believe that it is only the white, non-clearcoated ones that rust. It is also claimed that starting in 2014, the paint process was improved. When we sold our old 2004-based Airstream Interstate after 8 years of outdoor life, it had no rust at all except for all the holes that Airstream butchered into the body. We never waxed it, either. Airstream craftsmanship sucks. I hereby diss them.

time for another DISS.

Roadtrek should be dissed for sometimes using 'ambiguous specs'.

I too dislike Ultra leather and miss the old velvet ish fabrics of yesteryear. Warmer , softer feel and no slip slidin'.

Count me in. Leather/pleather/Ultraleather look cool, but in Texas heat, they are hot on the bum.

As for my beefs, I have five:

1: Sprinters -- they are reliable, but if one doesn't live in an area like Austin/Dallas/Houston, finding a place that will service one is an endeavor. In rural Texas, you get sneered at as a rich hipster if driving one. This is one reason I'll go with generic Sprinter badging.

2: Hymer and European/Aussie companies -- stop teasing us and get in the US market.

3: VW -- Get your California model camper van on this side of the pond. People will buy it. In droves. The more hipsters on the road and not staring at their iPhones, the better.

4: Truma -- The Combi is a great start. Bring more products to this side of the Atlantic. Please. Especially your VeGA fuel cell which runs off the propane tank and can easily offset the battery drain from a compressor fridge.

5: Ford, M-B, and FCA -- More van model choices. All three have 4WD versions, only M-B is bothering offering models with them on this side of the pond. A 4x4 Transit would be quite nice, especially with a dual alternator setup.

I don't know. I have genuine leather with contrasting stitching that I carefully selected to match the stitching in my curtains. You might say it is the finest Corinthian Leather.

BTW, it is much better in comfort and feel over Ultraleather.

X3

A lot of the folks we have run into on the road that seem to be having the best time, have some of the older, plainer, less sophisticated campers of all the different types and classes. No pretense, just fun camping for them.

Mea (Wea?) culpa. We always have fun out there. Our current camper of choice is an older, plainer, less sophisticated model. For now it works for us. If we ever get a newer model, I'm sure it will work too. The RV might change, but we'll still be having fun because it's what we do. I think when it stops being fun, we'll stop traveling.

I'm back on the road now and in the next 4 weeks I will be at three Class B socials, fests and rallies and will probably visit with close to 80 Bs in all I am guessing.

So, are you dissing the socials, fests, and rallies, or the 80 Bs?

First this weekend is a BEE Social at Lake of the Ozarks with about 20 Bs. Next weekend we will be at Advanced Fest in Willoughby, OH. Finally in the middle of May is the RV.net B12 Rally in North Carolina. We will have a busy five weeks as we have two Indy Car races to go to as well. Right now we are parallel parked on a street boondocking in La Crosse, WI.

BTW, there will be lots of Canadians at the B12 Rally.

Companies that stress the mileage on a sprinter-but never seem to mention that diesel fuel generally costs more-sometimes a LOT more.
