Default Oil Light comes on and drops pressure when I turn

I noticed lately when I make a right turn my oil gauge drops to L and the red light comes on, but only for a split second.

No leaks though...weirdest thing.

Has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks,
Mark

1) You need to add oil
2) Your pickup or pump is failing, take it to a shop.

Probably the pickup/sender unit. I had an erratic old pressure reading once in the middle of a long trip and, with each bounce on the dial, the pressure reading dropped a little. Pulled into a Dodge/Chrysler dealership in Idaho Falls. Mechanic said immediately "oil pumps in these engines are built really tough and never fail". He checked and it was the sender. Replacement was about $100. No problems since. Or, as Bruceper says, maybe just low oil level.

Hopefully just a sending unit. I have seen the small block Chrysler engines where the bracket that supports the oil pump pickup breaks and allows the pickup to come lose or move a cause a leak. It is not a common problem however.
