New guy looking at a 99 Roadtrek
Hello all. I'm new here and never had an RV. I'm looking at a 99 RT 3500 Dodge, 360 motor with 64K mi., new tires, awning and battery for $21.5K. Is there anything in particular I should look for or need to check out on this model before purchasing it? It "looks" to be in very good condition, it is older than what I was looking for but the price seems good and it looks good.

Re: New guy looking at a 99 Roadtrek
Be sure to drive it under a lot of different conditions before you buy. That vintage of Dodges was known for very poor handling in many, but not all, of the Roadtreks. They are also very prone to front end part wear, particularly steering gears that get loose, which can make it even worse. Many folks have spent up to $5K trying to fix ill handling Dodges, with varying success.

Re: New guy looking at a 99 Roadtrek
I passed on the 99 Roadtrek and picked up a 2004 Sportsmobile. It has 43K mi, Ford E250 EB with a 5.4L, it has been garage kept and not used in the last 8mo. I replaced the tires, wheels, brakes, fluids and took it for a 3 day trip, it was great.

That is beautiful. And you even got an awning! Good choice.
