Can anybody tell me what this is used for? It's hanging on the inside of the Bathroom closet and can be removed. It has a red knob and can be extended.

It looks like a Fiamma awning support rafter.

Tension rafter in aluminium to keep the fabric tight.
Anodized aluminum tension rafter supplied with special wall clips for storage inside the vehicle.

I just checked my dometic awning manual. And it is a center tension rafter.
