This confuses me a bit since I thought most years the chassis is a year ahead of the model year. For example, I bought my 2014 Interstate which was built on a 2015 chassis. Right now the 2015s are being built on 2015 chassis'. And now the 2016s are being built on 2015 chassis. Should we see the 2016 chassis before that or is this normal?

You've got it backwards. The chassis year can be a year, or more, behind the RV year. Back in the 2009-10-11 time frame Winnebago was building 10' and '11 coach years on 2008 chassis. We had a 2009 Itasca that the chassis had sat in WGO's storage lot for 16 months before the coach was put on it. The chassis was manufactured 10/2007....
