Default Me again

Hello Marco and the gang both new and old. I have not logged in since I sold my B a few years ago. I do come on and read through the posts every here and there. I sold my B due to our needs at the time. When we travelled we did day trips did not like unhooking and leaving "stuff" around the site with no camper. So we sold it and purchased another travel trailer. Over the last two years our needs have changed once again. Our vacation is not about camping but more about the journey. We found that we now find that we don't stay in one place for more than a day or two. In the morning start the day off with a good breakfast and start touring again. No need to return at the end of the day to hook back on to the trailer or back tracking. Just keep moving along and stop where we want. With the trailer we had to make reservations in fear of not getting a site that we could fit into. With the "B" that is not an issue. Tent site, trailer, or even a field for overflow is just fine. So we booked a tour at the Roadtrek factory November 23 to see if they could answer some questions. In January we have a big RV show in Toronto to attend and talk to the actual dealers. We are not new to camping, trailers or motor-homes but the more info we have the better we can deal. My biggest concern is the smaller engine size verses the 6.0 in the Roadtreks. We are going to purchase a new 190P with the perm. bathroom. We will lose the extra seat but in our case we will never need it. Any suggestions or questions for our factory tour would be great.

Thanks....Steve

Hi Steve - Welcome back!

I'd ask the rep at the factory tour about the macerator hose - find out if it has been improved. That's about the only complaint I read about Roadtreks. Owners reported the original macerator hose would crack or split necessitating premature replacement with a better quality hose.

Re: the 4.8 L SFI gas V8, 213 kW/285 HP versus the 6.0 L SFI gas V8 224 kW/323 HP engines - I don't have any info for you. Talk about that when you meet them. You'll have to test drive it. Roadtrek lists the 6.0L as an option on their website. The 4.8 L engine with the 4.10 ratio rear axle might feel similar to the 6.0 L engine with the 3.73 ratio rear axle that was a common combo.

Well the Road Trek is out. I was not happy at all with the construction/quality when compared to the Pleasure Way. We took a tour at the factory (they were 45 minutes late) and then we were not able to see one finished model in the factory. They took us outside ( it was cold and windy) and showed us the two models we said we were not interested in. They said if we wanted to look at the other models they located a dealer that had them but they were almost 3 hours away. I did ask some technical questions such as how the two water tanks worked and a couple of others that our tour guide could not answer. I was a little upset that they knew we were coming to look at two models and they didn't call me to say they don't have any. They said with the economy they could not build unsold units and just have them sit??? So today I went to another show and dealed on a Pleasure Way that we thought was a quality build. We had a PW in the past and thought it was well built. We settled on the rear electric sofa with two ottamens and the V10 engine with 5 speed transmission. Going to the actual dealer to settle things up in two weeks.

May 12 now. Can't wait till it arrives. It was delayed to product shortage. Not sure what appliance they were short on but it caused the delay.

I took a couple of pictures during the delivery but they are not the best. We are going away this weekend so I will take some of the inside and outside and post them up Sunday night.

Remember, black tank first, then grey.
Always shut off propane at the tank before refueling.
Or at least disable ignition sources (coach batteries/pilot flames).
Have fun.
