Default Mando e-bike - no chain

The Mando e-bike doesn't have a chain. http://www.mandofootloose.com/eng/main.asp
You "pedal" the integrated alternator.

Not really new technology, but new in a bike. Basically the same thing as a diesel electric locomotive, except you are the diesel! They are pretty inefficient, usually, but I assume the only time you would really be pedaling would be to go up big hills, or if the batteries died, so it probably isn't that big a deal. It is interesting that they have a low rpm alternator that is probably pretty low output also. Looks like that could be a neat setup if combined with a little Sterling engine to continuously charge RV batteries, like solar does, but propane powered.

i tried copy/pasting them into this reply, but it didn't work.
Can't find a price for them, but I bet they're not cheap.
