Inverter sometimes charging?..

My inverter shows charging fine from the van's alternator, but not when plugged into the wall or running off the generator- anyone know where to start with this?

What year?

What inverter?
What battery?

It would be good to know the manufacturer and model, as well as how equipped, but it certainly sounds like a failed automatic transfer switch or main AC breaker trip or failure.

as i posted on the other thread. Your alternator charges the battery directly.

your inverter/charger converts 120 volt to 12 volt and charges your batteries.

it will do this plugged in.some Onan generators are not wired to charge because of other issues.
