Inspection of macerator pump
After replacing our 15 month old macerator pump with a new one, we had a chance to inspect the old one. It was not pumping/ejecting as forceful as it did new. When I contacted Shurflow they told me it was the impellers and it was a $30 part and easily fixable. When we had it replaced, we asked for the old one back. Without having the necessary equipment to do the job ourself, we took it to an RV service center. CW and a couple other RV service centers, recommended to replace the entire unit, so we did. Upon inspection today, we found that the impellers were wrapped tight with hair. Removed the hair, hooked it up to a battery and the blades were spinning freely. We did purchase a drain screen 6 months ago, but unfortunately too late. Good news.....we have a spare macerator pump.
