How to put a photo on the forum?

Can I paste one or 2 photos directly into a message that I want to post?

You can add as many photos as you want to your posts if they are hosted on Imageshack or Photobucket. They are free to use. Photobucket seems faster to me.

The code is as follows (delete the Z)

448 x 336 is a good size
640 x 480 will be a bit too big within a post

You can also email photos to me and I will resize and add them to your post. Put something like {insert photo 3 here} in your post.

This board doesn't come with user upload capability. There are board mods available that I will look into.

Edit: 640x480 is ok to use

Photobucket makes it easy.



Just copy all of what is in the Img box and paste it into your post.

I ask because at some point, (in my spare spare time) I thought I'd post in the Places forum the story of when my husband & I went searching for Sea Rim State Park on the coast of Texas. It was one of those 'only in a B' moments.

Yes, it's not as easy as I'd like it to be. The attachment mod for the board would only allow one attachment and it would be at the bottom of a post. So it wouldn't be of much use when you want multiple photos and photos within a paragraph. If I can find a better solution I’ll post the info.

On this new forum, you can attach photos to your post. When making a post, scroll down a bit until you see the Upload attachment section.

Reminder: photos should not be larger than 800x600. Also, please resize a copy of your photo before uploading it. Try to get it down to 100k. Some new cameras will have photos larger than 3,000k ! ! !

Some forum members use dial-up internet and some use mobile connections. Neither of those user would be able view large (in dimension, and size) photos. Also, I don't want to burn through my allotted server space.

I installed a photo gallery for forum members to use for sharing photos of their RV's, trips etc. It is bridged to the forum meaning that forum controls the log on to the gallery. Only forum members can post photos to the gallery. Guests can only view the photos.

To get started you need to create an Album and the upload photos to that album. Be as descriptive as you can with each photo uploaded. It will help later when someone searches for a photo. For example, if you are uploading a photo of a motorhome add the year, make, model etc.



If your create an album that you want other members to be able to upload to then make sure that "visitors can upload file" is set to YES on the album properties.

Visitor are gallery members. Visitors are not Guests because guests are not members. Guests cannot upload to any album.

There is a link to the photo gallery in the upper right area of the forum.



The link to return to the forum from the gallery is just left of center on the upper part of the photo gallery page.

Hi Marko. Trying to use the photo gallery and have downloaded 5 photos of my B`s. When I press continue I receive a message for coppermine: cannot find server, server no longer avaliable, error. I`ve tried 6 or 7 times and get the same response. I`ve used the help feature and followed it through. In addition when I select the Pet Gallery and try to submit a picture of my dog I cannot find any instruction to download photo to this gallery. Please advise. Thanks. Brian Hartley Mission B.C.

It's working ok for me now. I suspect my host was down or very slow for a time.

After uploading to the gallery, get the "properties" (right click on the photo, then normal click "properties") of the intermediate sized photo.

The properties look something like this:

You can show it in a post by adding image tags.



In this post, I turned off BB code so that I could show the tags. The photo won't show with BB code off.

Remember, you have lot's of options when posting photos on the forum.

1. You can attach it to your post (only members will see it).
2. Upload it to the gallery and follow what I just typed about properties and tags.
3. Use Photobucket, Imageshack or another photo host.

When you right click on a photo using Firefox web browser one of the options you get is "Copy Image Location". Select that option and paste what you copied into your post. The add the image tags manually or by highlighting what you pasted and clicking the Img button.

Buy a red blinking battery operated LED light and sit it in the windshield when you aren't in the RV. Might act as a deterrent

I tried posting a photo here, but got this message:
"The image must be at least 0 pixels wide, 0 pixels high and at most 1024 pixels wide and 1024 pixels high. The submitted image is 3072 pixels wide and 1728 pixels high."

So what's up with that? I posted the same photo on the ADVenture Motorcycle site - it worked there... Maybe I could change the pixel size, but not sure I'm smart enough for that.

BTW: this forum is Way nicer & more grown-up than the ADV site!! I mean it!!

Markopolo in an earlier post recommended to resize your photo to not over 800 pixels. 640 x 480 is usually the recommended size for most message boards so they can be viewed by almost everyone on any computer or tablet without requiring scrolling or blowing out the borders of the message board. Photobucket is probably one of the best and easiest hosting services to use and it has tools to resize your photos appropriately when you upload them or after you upload. Some message boards will automatically resize your photo if you don't. I don't know about this board since I've never tried it but evidently not from what I read in your post.
