Default Hot water tank question?

I was out de-winterizing my 2006 Roadtrek 210 Popular and as I removed the anode rod on the hot water tank to flush it out i noticed this piece coming out of the tank. Anybody have any idea where it came from? It's a plastic tube probably 1/2 inch by 4-5 inches long .

I am not sure what term they use for it, but it is the inlet tube where the cold water comes in. The outlet for hot water is the same, but IIRC it is black. I don't recall, but think one points up (cold?) and one down (hot?), presumably so that the water temperature is more uniform.

The only way to replace these is to remove the inlet and outlet connections, but this was very difficult to do on my 09/10 C190P Roadtrek. (I didn't remove the connections for that reason, but because I was re-plumbing everything, and these popped out.)

Thank dicktill. Do you know anywhere to get the replacements? Is there a video out there to show how to do it?

Based on level of difficulty, is replacement really necessary?

https://suburbanrvparts.com/suburban...054-sw-series/ -- pretty expensive, but I'm sure you can do better searching with the part number, maybe ebay.

Not aware of a video.

I don't think I would spend anything upfront on the pieces until I got the old ones out of the tank. On a 15 year old water tank it could be very difficult and possible damage or tear out the tank.

The other option is to try using the tank as is without the tube. It was laying in the tank for a while, I would thing, and if you were using it without issue or noticing, you probably won't notice it now. That is, of course, assuming that you will be able to ignore the fact you know it is missing, which would be the hard part for me.

Suburban has made a few videos where they show a cut-away of the tank. It's the tube as mentioned above...I responded earlier but a moderator must have moved or deleted the post. If your tank works OK I wouldn't worry about it. I never use the hot water tank so I'm not sure how good they are to begin with. You would immediately know if this tube fell off from a residential hot water tank as they are vertical and the cold water would short circuit out the hot pipe.

Coincidentally, this just happened to me a month ago on my 1996 Popular 190 while I was flushing out the tank. I've since used the heater several times without a problem. I'm ignoring it and frankly have not noticed any difference in the fluctuation of water temps.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I may follow VTPete's advice and just let it go and see what happens
