Default Help Identify Rubber trim moulding

My side compartment takes on a lot of water. Parked! Locked! Rain water! (2000 RT 190 Popular...Dodge) Beyond the obvious piano hinge, what kind of seal is needed? Source? (I am a bit reluctant to contact Roadtrek... they never responded to older emails, and were clueless during a telephone query about propane regulator type.)

I thought the Dodges all used a rubber hinge that sealed and did the hinging. Perhaps yours has been replaced, if there is no weatherstrip type seal around the entire compartment, or a place for it. The Chevies do use piano hinge and a weatherstrip bulb seal.

It may very well be true that this coach originally had all-rubber hinge. The current door is held on by piano hinge with drywall screws!

I would like to return it to stock. Where can I find out where to find an after market OEM hinge?

If nobody pipes up here, the topic comes up often on the Yahoo Roadtrek board, always with links to the hinge material.

Google "rv rubber hinge".

Lots of video on how to do it.

Lots of sources -- you can get the rubber hinge at RV places or bus outfitters.

Here is part of the last discussion on the Yahoo board.

If it is the same Rubber Hinge that my 94D190V has on the drivers side storage compartment you can buy them from www.Mooreindustrialproducts.com The part # You want is: 4561-2231-020 which is 2 meters ( 6 ft) and price is $35.72 plus shipping. Pull up the website and look under "CONTINUOUS HINGES PLASTIC".
That's the hinge that RT used in the 90's. Moore Ind products is located in Cincinnati, OH

I got my new hinge. Thanks Booster!

The problem was that that during a previous owner's care, the original hinge broke. An aluminum piano hinge was added. Original hinge remnant was left in place. A very amateurish, sloppy job.

See picture of new hinge alongside the "Beverly Hillbilly fix"

I will try to do the job this weekend. Correctly.
