Great West Vans scoop!
Well, I have an interesting scoop today!
In one of my other forums, I found out that Tiffin (they build all kinds of Class A motorhomes) is getting into the B+/C space. Guess they want to build something like the Navion that is so popular right now.
One of the members who was in Red Bay for repairs was told that Tiffin just bought a large facility in Winfield recently.
Remember who had their shop there??

Makes sense that Tiffin wants to expand into the B-van market. One of their big competitors, Nexus RV is now sole distributor for Avion Azur luxury Class B motorhomes as report earlier on this forum.

Remember, Sterling was a fabricator of fiberglas components before they acquired GWV. They had some fairly fancy fiberglas fab facilities at the Winfield plant. Don't know if it was sold at the auction, but it was BIG, and if it is still there I could imagine it being pretty attractive to a company like Tiffin.

Hey Wincrasher, Thanks for deleting me from the class b camper vans youtube group, simply for posting a picture of my Chinook Concourse. Do you realize that people interested in class b's may be interested in Chinook's?

This is not the place for this. Also a Chinook is not a B

This is the second new venture by Tiffin in recent years. In addition to the new expansion into smaller motorhomes mentioned here, the Tiffin family also opened a new plant for fifth wheels sold under the VanLeigh brand. In addition to expanding their offerings in other markets it appears that these new operations provide an opportunity for the second and third generation members of the family to run their own piece of the business. The founder, Bob Tiffin, started the company in 1972 and tried retiring once but came back and doesn't seem ready to retire, at least the last time I saw him when I toured the plant a few years ago he said he was enjoying things and had no interest in retiring. I must say that Bob Tiffin is very impressive in terms of his customer interactions. He is always focused on getting to know each customer and how they like the product and how they would improve it. He is very approachable and easy going and it is enjoyable to meet him. Easy to see why they have a loyal customer base.
