Default Generator issue

I was running AC off my generator; when the AC cycled on, the tv would shut off. Never did that before. I have a PW Lexor TS, Any ideas??

Is power restored to the TV when the A/C compressor shuts off?

If so, you may have a priority load-shedding relay, which allows two high-current devices to share a single limited current source. They are configured to shut off one load when the other comes on, thus limiting the total current.

These are often used to allow the A/C and a microwave share a 30 amp source. It doesn't make much sense to put a low-current device like a TV on one, but it is certainly possible.

filing that away!
brilliant tip!

OP I assume your TV is on Alternating Current- do you have the option of running it on the DC power?

My 2006 PW came with a DC native TV-

I replaced with a samsung 21" which uses an ac/dc transformer ( to take 120VAC to 14 VDC)...by leaving that out I just connected the TV to the DC power- I had DC power behind my TV for the stereo amplifier

Also the AC outlets in the van ( and the exterior) are protected by the GCFI outlet in the can by the sink, if you loose power to these outlets check the GFCI
