Were it not for the fact that a portable propane cylinder takes a lot of valuable inside space, I like the idea of those over an under-floor tank.

However, I would probably say the best compromise is something like an Extend-A-Stay system where one can add an external cylinder inline with the tank, so one can replace or exchange those, especially for a longer boondocking trip.

Just as a general point of reference, we could not find an Extend-A-Stay type apparatus that could be made to fit our undermount propane tank.

In our case, it was primarily the leaf spring that was in the way of where the extension would need to be inserted. There was also the inconvenient fact that the engine exhaust pipe was routed through the same area. Even if we'd been able to deal with the exhaust issue, perhaps via re-routing, the leaf spring still made it a no-go.

The obvious suggestion being, don't order an Extend-A-Stay unless you are sure you could make it fit your Class B propane configuration.
