Exterior storage box hinge replacement

We own a ‘97 Roadtrek 170 Poplar.
The plastic hinge on the exterior storage unit is starting to come apart along the folding seam. I have temporarily taped it using gorilla tape.

I would like to know what others have done when replacing this hinge.
Did you replace with a metal piano hinge, new plastic hinge etc.

The original hinge is held in place with a number of pop rivets which would have to be drilled out .

Take a look at the following thread. It should have everything that you need to know, including where to order the hinge and a video showing the replacement. It is not an easy job, but I managed it very successfully on my 1999 Roadtrek 170. The hardest part is drilling the holes on the hinge to match on the inside because it is hard to get to. But if you take your time, it can be done.
