I'm just posting this so it goes into archive for future searches.
The lower vent door to my Dometic fridge (RM183) was hinged at the top with a piano-style hinge and didn't even open 90º. Eventually the door itself broke from the frame hinge. I didn't like the plastic replacements so I removed the door frame, drilled out the rivets, and riveted in a piece of aluminum angle (3/4"x1/2"offset) to the frame. The door is now removable. It slides in snug (no rattles) and the original latch works to hold it in place. The plastic trim pieces that covered the attaching screws on the frame were brittle and shattered on removal. I found 1/2" vinyl trim that fits in well but not flush like the original. I had to soak the pieces in hot water for about 5 minutes to get them soft enough to go into the frame.
