Default Does this mean I need a new toilet?

The flap on my gravity feed toilet has holes in it. It’s not the ball kind, but a flat flap the moves to the side when flushing. Is the flap a replaceable part? If not, is there a particular toilet that you would recommend to replace this?

Okay, I see from Thetford's website, the part is called the "blade", haha! It seems to retail for around $20. This looks like it's going to be fun.

$154 for a new toilet? And it's taller? That's a no-brainer.

No idea, but it's probably the original part from 25 years ago, so could just be worn out.

everything in those toilets is made to be easily replaced.

pulling the toilet in most brands is as easy, if not easier than the one in your house ( cause they are lighter)

I put something down to cover the floor and worked on it outside, taking opportunity to really wash it well and inspect for any other worn parts.

Nope. I've got an Aqua IV original to my 1997 PW. I replaced the flapper last year when I rebuilt the toilet since I had it apart but the flapper showed little wear. I could have probably left it in. I can't imagine what would have turned white plastic into what I see in your pics. But it's not normal wear. My repair was a hail mary. If I couldn't find the cause of foul odor I would have bought a new one like you. When I had it apart I saw immediately that the fill tube had a large crack in it which meant part of the flush water went into the black tank without ever going in the toilet bowl and when the toilet wasn't being flushed, it allowed black tank odor to seep into the bowl area. Inexpensive fix. Good hail mary.

Good luck with your new one.
