Default CO2 Alarm

Hi all. I can't figure out if the CO 2 detector works properly in my Roadtrek. Attached is a photo showing the testing instructions. A little difficult to read; hopefullyyoucan zoom in. Not sure I understand them. It does beep and flash green, red.

Also what does ppm mean...parts per ?? Also I don't know what kind of tool to use to remove the casing. Thought it was an Alan wrench but noooo that would be too easy.

Thanks,
Marie

You can google Safe-T-Alert (MTI industries) with your model number and find an instruction sheet download. On my STA alarm model:

A beep every 15sec plus an alternating Red/Green means there has been a malfunction of the alarm. Press the test button. If it doesn't stop, check battery voltage. If ok, replace alarm.

A beep every 25-30 sec plus an alternating RedRed/GreenGreen means that the alarm is at the end of its life and should be replaced.

These instructions apply to the 65 surface and flush mount models.

ppm = parts per million.

organize4u, Hey. it's a CO alarm not a CO2 alarm. Co2 is carbon dioxide like in a fire extinguisher or dry ice. Co is carbon monoxide like in auto exhaust and kills red blood cells.

Here is the low down on PPM (Parts per Million) and toxicity:

All CO detectors have a lifespan, usually 10 years. And some won't even allow you to replace the battery.
So at least make sure it's not past its end of life.

It's actually 5 years. I was way overdue. Both LP and CO were dated 2007!

Simple install. Now I see my smoke alarm should have been replaced in 2017 also. Finding all kinds of things PO didn't do. I read about photoelectric/ionization alarms but with my small van I'm thinking a plain old smoke alarm will do. Advice?

My Safety Alert replacement, model that showed, was a bit too big for the space. I could have cut a bigger opening, but ended up disconnecting the CO side (Low battery side etc was still fine) and simply put a separate CO Alarm behind the driver's seat. It came with a 5 year battery, so no hookup required.
