Default Clear lens porch light

Any thoughts about installing a switched lamp with a clear lens next to the amber porch lamp, so eliminating need for a lantern in that area?

The idea occurred to me when I was planning to replace my ancient porch lamp. It could be an inexpensive convenience for brighter light when there are no bugs around. But I have never seen it done - perhaps there is a reason for that.

Hmmm, Mkguitar do you get enough light for eating/reading? Do you know what power/lumens bulb you have?

the bulb was an incandescent I think an 1141.

I have replaced with an LED- lower current draw, less heat.

Could probably use it for reading but I have other lights
