Default Car seat/travelling toddler safety

Hello there!

Looking at purchasing a mid 90's Roadtrek and wondering if anyone has any advice on safely installing a rear-facing toddler car seat? I realize some sort of modification will have to be made. There are seatbelts which would help a bit, but additional tethers/anchor points will be necessary.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Steve.

For rear facing child seats,
all you need is the lap belt.
No tether is needed.

Where do you plan on putting the child seat?
They should be in the 2nd row passenger seat.

Don't search too hard or you may research yourself out of traveling with little Frankie. Basically a proper seat (not made out of wood) with anchors reinforced to the vehicle. Whatever seat you put her in needs to be forward facing. Side facing or backwards seats are a no no. While she is in a rear facing child seat a lap belt is adequate. A retracting seatbelt needs to have a locking retractor. Its easy to figure out, just pull the belt all the way out and then slowly let it back in, you should hear it start to ratchet.

Once she is forward facing you will need to install a tether bolt somewhere reinforced. Kits can be found online. I have a spare I could give up.

All that said we traveled with the kid for 3 years in our 84 westfalia seats were wood, anchors to the body. We just tried not to think about it too much and always travel cautiously.
