Default Follow up to road closure Big Sur

From California Hwy dept (Caltrans)

HWY SR1
[IN THE CENTRAL CALIFORNIA AREA]
IS CLOSED FROM RAGGED POINT (SAN LUIS OBISPO CO) TO 15 MI NORTH OF BIG SUR
/AT PALO COLORADO/ (MONTEREY CO) - DUE TO A MUDSLIDE - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO
USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTE

Re-opening ??? Heavy damage along the HWY from recent heavy rains. Rumors that It could be up to a year or longer before re-opening.

yes, when they say "alternate route" it's not a slight detour.

it's probably picking up the 101 from Salinas / Paso Robles

( San Simeon is reachable from the south)-

take the central coast off your list for this year- but if you have to check the caltrans website for updated info.
