Four hours is fair. It took me two hours to accept the fact that the tank had to be removed and a week to do it. There is no other way.
If you look you will see a short rubber hose between the tank and the regulator. Over the next year look for a place that will make the hose for you. Propane hoses should be replaced every 10 years or so, so keep it in mind.
