Default Bent lumbar support rod

Hi all, we have a 1997 Popular 190, awhile back I was semi-standing while adjusting my shirttail and must of pressed too hard on the driver seatback. Heard a bang and the seat shifted. Anyway, now the seatback will not lock in position and the lumbar support dial is cocked because the adjusting rod is bent just a couple inches in from the dial.
I don't want to remove the seat upholstery.
Has anyone else had this happen? Any ideas on how to straighten the rod without removing the upholstery?

That's a tough one. I don't see how you fix it without taking the seat cover and foam off.
