Default Back Home From Our Trip

I just got back from taking my kids to Winnipeg Manitoba to visit family. Going there, we stayed at KOA and Provincial Parks throughout the trip from Southern Ontario to Manitoba. I thought the KOA's in Ontario were a little pricey until I stayed at a Provincial Park. Over $40 a night in a Provincial Park for just electricity but the sites are nice, big and well shaded. The one KOA we stayed at had no trees and we were out in the open. The KOA's ranged from $44 to $48 per night.

I was quite shocked when we went over the border and stayed at West Hawk Lake Campground in the White Shell Provincial Park. Since it was a Provincial Campground, we paid the going price. For one night with water and electricity, it cost $16.80, tax included. This was well worth it. We had a nice treed site, beach close by and there were all kinds of deer in the campground. My kids and I got told off by the park Rangers because we were not to feed the deer. There were no signs so how was I suppose to know? The deer really liked Shredded Wheat!

If anyone is travelling through Manitoba, I would suggest the Provincial Parks but only during the week. Apparently they are always booked full on the weekends.

We did stay at the Agawa Bay campsite in Lake Superior Provincial Park, a couple hours North of Sault St. Marie. This is a narrow campground with Hwy 17 on one side and a long beech on Lake Superior on the other side. The kids loved the beach and played until after the sun went down.

Sounds like a great trip, the photo makes me anxious to hit the road - thanks for sharing. Oh yeah, the cost of your site was the icing on a super cake, ha!! Safe travels.

I like taking pictures of the kids enjoying themselves. My oldest didn't want to go swimming because she wanted to be on a computer and the Internet. Too bad we didn't stop where there was WiFi. Once she got in the water, she wouldn't leave. The sun set close to 10:00pm and they were in the lake just after supper.

Unfortunately, work is sending me away for a few months and I won't be able to go camping soon. I have this weekend and the following one and then I'm gone to Atlanta Georgia for a couple months. I'll be home at the end of October but am off again mid November for another month. I really have to consider retiring. I`m getting too old for this.

I think the rule of thumb is always don't approach any wildlife. Safer for you and the animals.
However, I would have fed them, too. Shredded Wheat?
I would try to avoid staying at a PP in Ontario for the reasons you've outlined. Prices are outrageous.
Manitoba sounds reasonable, though.

I'm done camping for this year. I'm in Atlanta Georgia for 2 months and will be off to Arkansas early November. Basically, I won't be home until close to Christmas. I have to winterize the camper when I'm home for a couple weeks at the end of October. Need to take it in for warranty work too.

I really need to retire.

You just need a more flexible work and location schedule. Simulated retirement.
If I had it to do all over again, I probably would have stayed on for a few more years if that had been an option.
I took the bait instead.
