Default B’s with 3-4 seats

We really like the Roadtrek Adventerous layout with the 3- 4 seats upfront (looking at the 2006-2012 years).

Needs to be diesel for towing a boat.

Trying to stay as short as possible so that rules out the 24 ft Winnebago ERA.

Does anyone know of any other models with that layout?

.

Roadtrek Versatile has 4 seats.

Chevy chassis.

The post 2009 models have the 6 sp transmission

but they are gas, not diesel.

Thanks. I am trying to find something built from 2006-2012 to keep the costs down.

You can go to rvt.com and do a search for "Class B," "years 2006-2012," "length 1ft to 22 ft," "diesel" and you will get about 40 hits. Then you can look at the different models to narrow your search.

I just did that and found various years of the following with rear sofas:
Leisure Travel Free Spirit
RoadTrek RS Adventurous
PleasureWay Plateau
RoadTrek Agile

If you want a van with three or four seats up front, your options are going to be a lot more limited and many of your choices will be gas. The only diesel I know of is the RoadTrek Adventurous which had options for four seats or three seats and a cabinet.

Also, if you want to pull a boat, you need to look at the GVWR. Some of the Sprinters of that era are on 2500 chassis and are almost at their weight limit with the conversion alone.

THe Winnebago ERA has models with 4 seats.
but they are built on the Sprinter extended chassis (not so good for towing).
Also, I believe they come with 4 cyl engines instead of the v6.

A Class B is a poor choice to pull a boat. You have to launch it at a boat ramp and your under floor equipment is not designed to be submerged. That's why you see more truck campers pulling boats.

Yea it isn’t ideal. We won’t always have the boat with us. We just want the ability to tow it for the occasional short trip which allows us to sell the large suv we currently use to tow the boat.

In that case, I would not worry too much about the XL chassis. I have seen many people tow with longer chassis, both the Sprinter as well as the RT 210.

They are not ideal for towing,
but for the occasional tow, I don't think it is a problem.
Just don't go too fast and you will be ok.

The original post seemed to imply that a diesel was needed to tow the boat. Our 2007 Roadtrek 210 has a towing capacity stated at 7500 pounds and the 190 for that year shows 8100 pounds. Both had the Chevy 6L gas engines.

Perhaps you just prefer a diesel.

.

You are right.

Modern gas engines have just as much torque (if not more) as a diesel engine.

Check out the Ford ecoboost 3.5L

400 lb/ft of torque !!!
