Default April 18, 2013 in Minnesota

Heading toward one of the snowiest Aprils ever. Maybe latest ice out date ever. I need to go south!

6" on the ground, another 3-5 possible tonight.

I feel for you. The ground was white here as recently as last Sat & Sun after previously being mostly bare.
Really good melt the last few days though.

Folks around here are very optimistic re: winter and snow. I always find it funny and chuckle. Here's what they say re: winter happenings:

new snow falling - that's good, it will help get rid of the old snow!
fog - that's good, it will help get rid of the old snow!
minus 20 - that's good, it will help get rid of the old snow!
rain - that's good, it will help get rid of the old snow!
wind - that's good, it will help get rid of the old snow!
The list goes on, no matter what the winter occurrence is - it's good, it will help get rid of the old snow! ..............

So your new snow will help get rid of the old snow...... guaranteed!

We were right along the lower (rain/thunderstorm/tornado) edge of the weather event that may have left you under the snow, and they were warning of possible tornadic activity in the area around Detroit this afternoon. The temp on our side was in the 80's with high humidity, and I see you were on the cold side of the front. We were lucky and only saw some gusty winds and heavy rain, but nothing more dangerous. We also have a snow warning sometime in the next 48 hours, so no one north of Mexico is immune.
Next year at this time, I hope we'll be closer to Mexico than we are right now.

I would like to think I was all knowing but I left Minnesota for South Padre Island, Texas on March 1st and didn't even see a drop of rain or hardly a cloud for a month. I'm still in SPI but will start heading back North on Monday to get home to pick up my snowshoes for the RV.net B 10 rally in Michigan's UP in mid May.

Good call on finding a south Texas hideout. Good timing, too.
Clairvoyant, perhaps. Definitely lucky.

Hard to measure the total, as it blew around and drifted pretty badly. From what the news says, it looks like our area got 10+ inches. Now it has settled into about 6" of very heavy wet slop. At least we aren't having to mow the lawn yet, like last year when it had been in the 80's for a month!

We've cooled down to closer to freezing. I expect we'll get some flurries overnight, but it shouldn't last too long on the ground, if any accumulates.

Update: It was snowing last night when I went to bed around 23:00 EDT.
Nothing on the ground, but it is just below 32F this morning.

APRIL 24, 2013 - It rained / sleeted / snowed all day. Pretty miserable for late April. The temperature was hovering around the freezing mark. Same story today, and a rain front just passed through. I just need it to get a bit warmer, to get started on the inventory and transfer of things from the Roadtrek to the Bullet. The weather has been mostly frustrating, and winter doesn't appear to be quite ready to let go, yet.
