Anyone RV through Mexico to S America?

We've driven from SA to San Miguel de Allende several times, even recently without problems. Has anyone RV'd across the country? I've seen groups that offer caravans, but it's crazy pricey. Otherwise, safety in numbers and the more the merrier. Are there any groups that drive together?
