Booster,

You are right. If I don't do anything different than I currently do I am still going to add about 90 amp hours with the compressor refrigerator I am getting. It is 5.2 ah when running. I'm not sure how much it would need to run in a day to maintain temperature. but I am assuming about 18 hours which might be generous. It has been suggested to me much lower. Either way, I think I am covered.

I don't expect my habits will change much. I suspect I will drive most every day and will rarely park three days without driving. I can't recall ever being parked more than two days without driving somewhere when dry camping in national forests and parks. Usually it is to go somewhere like into a town, an attraction, a trail head or just to drive around for the scenery. Battery charging will still be primarily by driving. That is what Bs are about. That aspect is often not factored in but if we were parking and sitting any length of time I would think a B would be a poor choice of an RV.

I took a break from this discussion this afternoon and went out and built my Contemplation Island in the middle of our driveway turn around. This will give me a place to think about all this stuff.

The "Island" needs a Canadian Whiskey drink holder to help you think better.

Davydd:

Question for you and your custom-built Alvar Alta. Do you know what brand of inverter-charger you will be getting?
On my new CS it's taken me forever to discover the brand -- and I don't have a TrippLite, despite RT providing me the TrippLite manual! In fact I don't have any manual for it, made by ZLPower.

Gerry51 -- great find. I spent all morning searching for this, found the ZLPower website with some specs, but no manual. Looks like your link #3 is what I need. You are a web-savant!

Good question. I don't know the answer to that.

I was looking at carpet tile tonight and came across this pattern that reminded me of something. It took a while, then I remembered Alvar Aalto's Finnish Pavilion. It might look good in your new B!

The floors will be 100% carpetless. We are installing a Go Pound Sand a recycled rubber floor. Hides dirt well I hope. Easy to clean. And a soft feel under foot along with the heated floor feature. Otherwise, that carpet would have been a good choice.

Dayvdd is my online name I have used since 1988. It's a long story how I arrived at it.

Take it with a grain of salt whether I am a veteran or not. It is just my opinions for our circumstances based on our experiences. I've added a couple of additional comments in the feedback.

What Veteran RVers look for in an RV
