I know that you posted this a while ago, but as far as I can tell, the slideout on an LTV Free Spirit SS takes the place of a sliding door on the driver's side, like the driver's side sliding door on their Free Spirit TE. A sliding door already has all of the seals on the van needed for the slideout. They also wouldn't have to alter the structure of the Sprinter, which probably lowers their costs and keeps Mercedes happy, too. Looking at the photos of the TE on their site, I'm pretty sure that the fairing is mounted on the roof on both models, away from the door, so they wouldn't have to build two different fairings. If you roll your mouse over the photos of the TE in their photo gallery, it says that some of them actually are the SS.
