Default 911 Bay Door Hinge Broken!!! Help

4 days from major trip, opened driver side bay door and the hinge partially separated.

Where can I purchase this hinge?

How likely is to bay door to come off with it locked??

Thanks

Do you mean the rear cargo door on the driver's side? What make and model?

2004 RT 200P, the door is the long bay door just behind the drivers door.

Okay- the lower cargo compartment. Is it a piano hinge or separate book hinges? Is is separating at the hinge pin or where it attaches to the door or the body?

I think I'd want to secure it somehow before heading out, even if its just temporary. It's probably okay, but I'd hate to take a chance, since that door is pretty much irreplaceable.

A photo of the door and hinge might stimulate some creative thinking...

I found on the interwebs a YouTube video dealing with replaceing the plastic hinge as well as a link to the part. I have ordered the hinge however it will not arrive until after we get back. The hing has separated at the pivot of the plastic hinge itself, it is secured to the body of the RT and the door with rivets. The separation is about a foot long, the hinge is some 5 foot long.

I thought about using some gorilla tape placed horazonal over the hinge with the tape making contact with the RT and door. This with the door locks I am thinking should hold the door in place.

What do y'all think????

A possible repair would be to use a piano hinge for strength and rubber strip as a seal. Rubber strip could be attached with the same rivets as the piano hinge.

I recently used HF riveter for 1/8" SS rivets, inexpensive and excellent tool. My old Craftsman tool failed setting SS rivets.

I had mine crack like that on a trip. Close it up and don't put anything you need to get in there and try to stay out of it. That should work ok, but absolutely no guarantee.

Default Storage locker hinge

Storage locker hinge. Shoe goo is a temporary fix until you get a replacement hinge.

Default After Action Report

Below is a link to the replacement hinge. I ordered the hinge, removed the old hing and installed the new one.

All is well.
