I forgot about that, I am waiting for your upgrade. Anyway, lots of snow here and cold temps. Enjoy the day.

Re: 40 degrees today!
What a fantastic looking day! We might have reached 40F today but it wasn't as sunny and we're right back at the freezing point now. I was busy clearing last nights snow. Its funny how 40F at this time of year can feel so warm and make you feel like doing stuff outside.

Re: 40 degrees today!
We had about 4-5" Monday morning and are do for another 6" tomorrow, so we will be with you in clearing snow. Hope the blower makes it to spring as the drive disc is failing and wheels are rusted on, so I can't easily get to it to put one in. At least it survived long enough to move the piles back from the driveway, so when we shovel we have a place to put it. We try to keep it clear without driving on new snow and packing it, or we get huge packed ridges for 20' out from our north facing garage where no sun shines. Makes it really tough to get in and out of the garage.

Re: 40 degrees today!
We were up north in Grand Marais when it snowed in the Twin Cities Monday. This morning I measured 6" of new snow so we must have gotten more on the west side considering two days of melt. I can tell you shoveling old snow after two days is tougher than shoveling fresh snow.
Grand Marais had about 10" Monday. We snowshoed in that at Sweethearts Bluff next to the campground but stayed in town. Yesterday it was spectacular and we went up the Gunflint Trail to snowshoe. No, we stayed in the Harbor Inn and drove our Subaru Outback up there.
Our favorite campsite in the Grand Marais Campground that overlooks the harbor was a bit indisposed with snow Monday.
Tuesday at the George Washington Memorial Pines ski trails it was spectacular.

Re: 40 degrees today!
Well it was fun while it lasted. We are now due for 6-12" of new snow and then we are going to drop back down to below 0 F nights for the next 10 days or until we plan to depart the Twin Cities for some points warm if that exists. I see it is now snowing this 11 AM.

Re: 40 degrees today!
Times change We are in the 10" + area. 30-35 mph winds while snowing last night. Deck railing only shows half the depth because it all blew elsewhere (like the driveway). Now we are going to get another week with below zero lows.

Re: 40 degrees today!
We got about 7" on the west side of the Twin Cities. I measured 24" of accumulated snow. It hasn't been the snowiest winter but has been consistently cold with little snow melt. The Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota now has nearly 4 feet of snow on the ground.
Here comes the Bobcat to plow our 400 foot driveway. It is 7 AM.
We were up early and ready for them as we had shoveled around the B and in front of the garage door so they don't have to get too close.
All plowed by 7:30 AM. This photo was taken at 8 AM back inside the house again.
I spent another 2 hours today clearing snow off the B. The first two inches was a slushy icy mix that had to be chopped at with a broom handle. The upper 5 inches or so could be broomed off or blown off with a leaf blower. So it was up and down on a ladder. If we blow this town and head south on March 1st it looks as if I won't have to do this again. Weather looks clear but extremely cold until then.

Re: 40 degrees today!
Booster: Good grief for a moment I thought your RV had shrunk in the cold weather until I realized it was a car!!!
Davydd: Love your driveway, trees(there IS a house back there) and RV but you can keep the snow. Had our one only snowstorm today and my BMW with snows on had a few problems negotiating the church parking lot!!!I made it there and back home but two cars, one of them a 4x4 were resting in awkward looking off-road positions ie the ditch!!

Re: 40 degrees today!
I hope by Saturday some of that snow now turning to ice is melted enough so I can drive the B up it and get out of the cold. The problem is we are in another polar vortex with below 0 F temperatures all this week. That is a 200 foot 12% grade.

Re: 40 degrees today!
Not 40 degrees now. More than 40 degrees. More like 75 degrees and sunny. We commiserate with you all and a storm coming through Minnesota today. We drove until we hit warm weather in South Padre Island.

Re: 40 degrees today!
We'll be on our way to Mustang Island SP in a couple of weeks. Or someplace else warm down that way.
Our Spring travels have become harder to plan with Canada's taxation season sitting in the middle of it. The problem is that our CRA (Canada Revenue Agency, your IRS) allows some fairly loose rules on when certain investment paperwork must be in the mail from the brokerages or other investment companies to the holders/recipients to be included in their annual taxation math project. I wish they'd get their act together on that, so people could plan around it better. There should be a hard, fast, cutoff date, with no exceptions for the providers, and/or no penalties for missing or late forms for the consumer.
It is actually 40 degrees here today and raining.

Re: 40 degrees today!
DW has had enough and just left for 3d days in Las Vegas with her girlfriend. I get to stay here and shovel the new snow (only about 3") and try to get the van ready so we can actually go someplace pretty soon.

Re: 40 degrees today!
Our van is ready to travel, more or less. Still sitting, winterized, but that's just valves open, no water, pink stuff in the gray and black, for us. I'd like to get all the fluids checked and/or done, but that's about it. I can always get that done somewhere along the way. I've got about 2000 miles left on my last oil change, but I'll do it first chance anyway.
I think South Padre might be too warm in a few weeks, so that was just speculation. I think we may head towards NM and check out some of the State parks. The 4 corners might be a bit cool this time of year, but may warm up a bit by the time we get down there. It's always been a crap shoot for weather.
