2016 Ford Transit Alternative Fuel

I just noticed on the Ford website that they will be offering an engine powered by natural gas/propane on the Transit cargo van. I wonder if any of the Class B manufacturers in North America will produce an all propane powered model in the near future?

Alternative fuel options for gas and diesel engines.

• 3.7L V6: CNG/LPG Gaseous Engine Prep Package* for power conversion to compressed natural gas (CNG) or liquid propane gas (LPG)

Don't see it. Chevy/GMC has had this for awhile, (CNG), and no takers yet...

CNG is less efficient so any savings in price per gallon would be a wash. If you want to get it for environmental reasons then that may be different.

I think the infrastructure is not there to support general consumers with these alternative fuels. Fleet owners can build regional hubs to provide the LPG or CNG.
