Default 2007 Roadtrek Popular 210

Hello all,
I need some advice on the brakes/rotors on my 2007 R.T. 210 popular on the Chevy chassis.

When going down steep hills for long periods, the rotors apparently heat up and warp, and then when I brake, the front end/steering wheel shakes very violently. It goes back to normal very quickly after the cool for only a brief period of time.

I need input on what people have used as replacement rotors and brakes. I do not intend to have the rotors turned. I am thinking of replacing with drilled and slotted rotors with better pads.

I have read that there is some confusion as to the actual size of the rear rotors. I see they are available in 86mm and 91mm for the rear rotors, but also read someone had a 76mm or something weird like that.

Has anybody changed all 4 rotors/brakes? Do you have any input on actual rotor sizes? Any good products out there that you have used?

Thanks, Jeff

1.) downshift. I have similar chassis - 2005 Chev 3500 6.0L and 3 speed with OD.
shifting to 3rd will hold speed to about 55 mph on a 6% grade, 2 nd will hold to about 45 mph

Get into the right lane and let the lighter traffic by, plan for what is up ahead. Use the motor to slow the road speed and then when you need the brakes they are cool (not just the rotors and pads but also the fluid) and most effective.

I am still on original rotors and pads at 90K.

Another tip is IF your brakes are hot- when you come to a stop try not to hold the brakes in the same place...allow the van to creep a little forward or roll back a bit- just to keep the hot pads from heat soaking just one part of the rotor.
