Default 1999 Dodge Pleasure Way Excel RD

Going to look at a '99 Pleasure Way Excel RD tomorrow. Our other alternative is an ex-CruiseAmerica 19G Class C. Interested in what anyone thinks about either unit. I have my own ideas about the relative merits of each, but other viewpoints are often helpful. Anyone with experience in either unit, please chime in.

This will be our first foray into a Class B. We had a Class C (23') during the late 80s and 90s. Then we had a slide in camper on a dually pickup for a few years. We've been without an RV for about the last 7 years and looking to get back in with a small unit. Thanks in advance.

I own a 1997 PW. Pros: Fit/finish on the unit are excellent. It was very well maintained by previous owner (my fatherinlaw). But the original care in assembly was well done. The only repair concerning quality was on the drawer under the fridge. The drawer box is made of furniture grade hardboard. The front of the box that holds the drawer front was continually splitting. Eventually replaced that piece of the box with solid wood to solve problem. It also amazes me that all the appliances still work well after 22 years.

Cons: You need to drive it and see how it handles above 60mph. Some people have issues with the steering as it is "light" in feel. They find that it requires continual correction. It appears to vary some since mine handles ok. But even I recently added a steering stabilizer with the result that it did smooth out road handling. I, however, never had the extreme situation that some appear to have experienced. Road test.

good luck,
glenn
