Default 1989 Dodge Xplorer

Guys I picked up a 89 Xplorer 19.5ft Dodge 360 5.9 with 55k miles. It runs like a champion, smooth transmission, and start immediately. Hoses have been replaced, fuel lines and house batteries.
Everything works except the fridge. No rust. No leaks. Interior dated, but in good shape if you like 89 blue carpet. New AC in back and converted to new refrigerant in Dash. New tires and brakes.

I dropped 5,500$ on this beast. Did I pay too much?

Not at all. I have seen these go for $8,900-12,000 in great condition. Actually, you may have bought one of the rigs I was looking at on craigslist. These Dodges are highly regarded and are very expensive. An 89 in great condition for that price is a steal. If you bought it in Main, I know the guy and it was a great rig. In Kansas or St. Louis, both of them were worth it. Only 55k!! Ok, that is awesome. Those things are bullet proof and really well made. Best class Bs on the market IMHO. A 98 would go for at least 20k. Look it up. Parts are plentiful for that rig too. No, you didn't over pay. Those things don't sit long after they have been put on the market. Congrats to you and enjoy!!!

P.S.-I just noticed you are from New England like me. You got that from the guy in Main huh?? Dammit I knew that was a great rig. He was asking 12k, then 8k. You mean to tell me he ended up selling it for 5k?? I am so pissed right now. I would have been Captain Dodge instead of Chinook if I could have gotten it at that price! Dammit!!!

That's a nice looking van.

Did it need any work after purchase? Or is it 100% good to go?

It needed a new refridgerator which I replaced with a 12v/120 electric and the generator needed tweaked. Other than that it is road ready.

Please tell us more about your refrigerator. Including cost etc. My cooling unit is not working properly (not getting cold enough) and needs replacing as well. I hate the idea of trying to start it one day in advance of a trip or day excursion when 110volt house dorm frigs get cold immediately.
Thanks

It's a beauty.Truckfridge.com or adventurerv.net are great places to get fridges at good prices.Remember that you need a couple deepcycles if you're camping offgrid to power the fridge.
