1986 Dodge Ram Custom 250

Hello there - new to the forums.

Myself and a buddy are musicians from British Columbia, Canada. We are looking to accquire a camper before summer this year in order to travel around B.C and also down the west coast of The States.

We have found a 1986 Dodge Ram Custom 250 camper locally which we are very interested in. Seems in great condition from the photos - obviously we'll check it out in person too.

Just looking for some more info on this van... Are Dodge Ram campers generally reliable? How is the 1986 model? Fuel consumption? Any frequent problems/issues that owners have encountered? What does the "Custom" mean?

I use to work in a garage back then. Personally I didn't like Chrysler/Dodge products probably because they were harder to work on and most of our customers had Ford or Chevy so i knew the most about them. But, I have to admit they have some good engines and cars. Presently I own a 1995 Dodge class B camper van and I have gotten over 17 mpg on the road, Shure beats my Chevy van at 12 mpg. I bought mine used with 40,000 miles on it and now I have a little over 50,000 on it. No problems so far. I have the 318 cid engine which even back then admitted it was a good engine.
