Default 1985 Dodge Okanagan - seats

We recently purchased a 1985 Okanagan Dodge Camper Van, we purchased seat covers to fit the drivers and passenger seats, which as far as I can determine are original. Unfortunately we have been unable to remove the armrests, the local Dodge dealer has been unable to help, "too old". Has anyone done this and how?

Thanks for any help

Try and push them "in" a bit at the base of the pivot point where they rotate up and down. If they go in a bit then they might be like ones I've had to put on and take off. There was a spring in there that keeps the armrest snug to the seat back.

The armrests I worked on rotated about 45 degrees from down to up. Near the top of the up position I was able to push the armrest in a bit and that allowed the armrest to rotate further back than normal. The armrest then popped off easily. Putting it back on was the reverse. Find the "slot" where the post goes in, push the base of the pivot point in and the rotate the armrest to it normal operating range.

Gee I wonder if mine work the same way. I have one out of place and maybe that can solve it. My seats are a different name though but I'll give it a try

Why do it now, wait for spring!!

Seriously I'll try your suggestion soon as.

Update on seat covers "brand new covers are now for sale" Short of taking the upholstery clips from around the base of the seat and rolling it up to expose the bolts underneath and undoing the arms and then the reverse and reinstalling the clips requiring a special tool. No Thank you. The upholstery will have to suffice.

It might not be pretty, but how about cutting the cover around the arm rests, pull the opening over them and sew up the cut... cover the arm rest with matching or material that has some colors that match your new cover so they blend in.
