Default 12 Volt

I am new to campervans. To travelling alone also. So I need a lot of help and education. Where the old tv was in my 98 pleasureway there is two 12 volt outets. I want to put in a new tv and separate dvd player. There is a 110 outlet nearby but I would rather utilize what is already there. As I can understand alot of the power in the van is 12v. Then the batteries are charged when I plug in to a 15 or 30 amp outlet. Really I need to find someone to explain all this as the old instructions that came with the camper are confusing. I am sure that all the old campers have new tvs installed so what did those people do. Thanks for any help I can get

You can actually buy 12volt dc televisions and some have built in dvd. Take a look at this Amazon link:

12 volt TVs are available and marketed to long haul truckers. They are available on the internet or an any big truck stop. Skyworth is a reliable brand built to be put into a vehicle. Most have a built in DVD player. Your batteries should be charged by shore power and also from your vehicle alternator when you are driving.

Many of the smaller consumer TVs run from 12V power bricks, and are usable in a van. In theory, some of them may be sensitive to the varying voltages found in vehicles. In practice, I have found all the ones I have used to be pretty robust. If you are worried, DC-DC power conditions are available.
