What size hitch do you have on the R? The early ones had a 2" hitch and the 2000's an up had the 1 1/2" hitch with a hitch weight of 200#. If you have the smaller hitch, you will need to reinforce it to take the heavy weight as there are only two bolts that hold up the ends. I reinforced my bolts by adding a 2" channel iron to the ends of the hitch. I have a write up on how I did this project. Send me an email to
