Default Newbie Roadtrek 2001

2001 Roadtrek 190 Versatile

I am going to see this on Sunday it has 99,000 miles. Has been used for some trips but mostly around town. Can anyone share a check list that I can bring to a mechanic for him to check it out based on it is on a Chevy, or just an honest opinion maybe the mileage is too high.

Getting a Roadtrek was my first choice, but I kind of figured I would just have to do a build out in a extended high top.

Any information would greatly be appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

the versatile sleeps sideways- how tall are you? my height took sideways sleepers off of our list, also the late night climb over to use the can.

The chevy is pretty reliable- I'd suggest you ask him to look at the steering gear and front suspension- A arms, brakes) check all the fluids- look for signs of care or abuse ( varnished up oil filler cap indicates non- synthetic oil used)- service records present?

anything used "in town" is going to have alot more wear than hwy miles.

look for damage underneath to the RV tanks or pipes.

rust esp to propane tank and generator

possible you can get an RV specialist to go through each of the RV systems with you?

make sure power works on a/c shore power and DC battery modes and switches over as it should

make sure the furnace, hot water heater, fridge works (in all 3 modes) generator and air conditioning. look for newer smoke detector, gas detector- this shows diligence on the part of the owner- detectors require change out after 5 years or so

if the TV is old, a replacement samsung 21" at costco is $140...makes a nice swap

roadtrek has legacy brochures on the website, allows to see what features should be there...and working
