Default Hi from SW Colorado

Hi, Tom here from Salida, CO.

I started RV'ing with a used 1972 VW Camper. I think marginal probably describes it. Two engines and 100,000 miles of good times.

Later I bought a new 1984 Westfalia Vagagon. That was a great little camper that lasted about 10 years before the engine blew and I decided to sell it.

Fast forward to a car camping family of four, when we bought a Coleman folding tent trailer and enjoyed that for many years.

Today, the kids are grown and Kelly and I are looking forward to getting another camper van.

We are looking at the dizzying array of Class B options. Really incredible!

We started with 1977 VW Westfalia, followed with 1985 EU delivery, family grew so we switch to larger RVs and lately realized that low usage was due to multi headaches of having a trailer. So, we decided to go back to the future with a campervan à la Westfalia. Didn’t find one alike so we converted the new 2013 Sprinter Passenger van to Westfalia like floorplan.

GeorgeRa, I perused your photos, and your rig really is one of the best custom built, VW-inspired Sprinter campervans I've seen. Bravo.

Thank you. Last year I was with my friend at Adventure Van Expo in Mt. Hood Meadows OR, one fellow with a heavy German accent peeked inside and commented – das est prima, a modern Westfalia.

Default Westfali

GeorgeRA - your experience pretty much followed ours. We have been renting trailers for awhile and I re-discovered the fact that I don’t like pulling a trailer. So we have started researching available Class B floor plans. I’m not quite ready to DIY but the quality of factory conversions is a concern. Your van looks awesome!
