Default Guten Tag

Hello-

New member. In the process of purchasing a 2020 Ram Promaster for my build. Will be interested in hearing any ideas/ thoughts as I proceed with my project. I will say that the emphasis on this endeavor will be the bed and the bathroom.

Default Diy b

Wie gehts in the States,

I am a newB and just bought a used one. Figure I would want to experience a complete one before building my own. I still dont know if I went the correct route when I consider the book value of the van by itself (minus the conversion). I wanted something my wife and I could use relatively soon to escape quarantine and travel a little.

DIY Bs seem to be all about efficient bed/"garage" (under bed storage) design. Having a high enough bed to fit electronics, bikes and gear. Would love to design and build one some day.

Seems to be endless videos and blogs wanting to show you how to. Pairing them down to solid advice is the challenge.

Look forward to seeing your progress.

Eric

Thank you for the reply to my post. I previously owned a Vanagon Westfalia and was considering a layout similar to that because I really like it. However, it is imperative that I install a decent sized bath/shower in my rig. It will be challenging but should be a fun project.

While he is obsessive about some aspects of his van-building, Humble Road on youtube does a great job of documenting his recent Promaster van build for the Carey On Vagabond couple.

Be sure you also join

Absolutely tons of self builds there. I also modeled somewhat after VW Westfalia.

If I would be building a VW Westfalia like (had 2) van on a Promaster I would build a side to side rear bed combo with a shower and slide-out toilet all within the bed footprint.

When we moved away from large RVs in 2013 we wanted to replace them with a VW Westfalia like van, none were available so we built one by ourselves, but, no shower.

Good luck.

There have been some vans built with the pop top option and I believe that there is a ProMaster.

We have a PleasureWay Lexor on a Promaster chassis.
We really like the ride, handling and performance.
Good luck on your build.
