Photobucket images - not for forum use
Recently the image hosting service Photobucket changed their terms of use for account holders and no longer allow embedded images to be displayed on forums. As a result the forum had many threads lose their photo documentation.
Moving forward we will disallow links to Photobucket and ask that you store your images with the posted text that they were intended to augment, here on the forum.
Forum members can store images posts and threads using the attachment option found in the advanced reply editor or in photo albums set up in individual profiles. There is no cost to store images here and this will ensure that your content is not diminished by an image hosting service changing their minds about how your content is handled. Thanks for understanding.

The problem of fixing all the broken links still remains.

Thanks Janet, that will prevent future issues. I have been storing on the site for quite some time, and it is quick and easy.
Do you know if it is possible to download my pix from Photobucket and somehow keep their Photobucket link information with them, so I can match up to my old post and get pix back in (assuming you allow editing of old posts)?

It's water over the dam for me. I have 600 images in my Photobucket Class B library alone and probably more than 2,000 images in all that were solely for 3rd party hosting. Most all my Photobucket Class B library is hosted here. I'm not about to take the time to fix them even if editing was enabled again. The Photobucket uploads were not originals. They were prepared with average JPEG at 640 x 480 resolution. I would also have to search them and prepare them again from my computer's library which is over 40,000 strong. I never upload originals.
Photobucket has to relent on 3rd party post prior to their policy change. If they don't I sincerely hope they fail.

Good information to know. Air Forums restricts memory for photo posting unless one is a supporting (paying) member, but even with that, uploads are cumbersome and many members struggle with it, especially when using mobile devices. Many of us use Imgur for the ease of use that it presents.

It says my limit is 48 photos here and I have 13 uploaded already. So I assume my contribution would run out rather fast considering I've added so much more from Photobucket.
I might check out Imgur. Smartphones account for more than 85% of photos posted to the Internet I believe I read. If it can't be done easily with a smartphone a site will be missing out.

Yup... the links have reappeared, not just here, but in other sites too.
PB must have realized that the move is suicidal.
Their web traffic went to zero, so did the ad revenue.

Photobucket's CEO Tom Munro has MBA in Finance, not a rocket scientist but a bean counter, he is still counting in shock.

From my own experience pictures dramatically help any sale, many good pictures, upright, correct angle, nice weather, rain drops on painted surface can show the state of finish, sufficient resolution and contrast, etc. It is easy for potential customers to link pictures quality with quality of a selling item.
Selling an item for $50K can easily justify asking or hiring someone with photography basics. Some folks show a video taken with a handheld smartphone, a jittery video for me is an instant irritant. There are reasonably inexpensive cameras with optical image stabilization for folks preferring video over images, that is not me.
This site is limited to 5, good but not enough for a sale from my perspective. For large items, I use about 30 images. I used extensively Google +, once learned it is simple. It takes about a minute to share a picture or an album. One of the benefits of sharing an album is freedom to update it without changing a link.
Posting a sale without a good set of pictures while asking for PM to request pictures defeats the purpose of gaining maximum number of folks as potential customers. More potential buyers can help any sale.
