Default How do you send pictures to a private message

Hi,
I just can't figure out how to send images (jpg) from my PC in respond to a private message. It seems that I need to place the picture in a location with a URL address ?

When I was selling my rig, anyone who wanted photos had to give me an email address. And I used my 'throw away' account that I use for little else but things like this.

Blueboy, I just examined the private message function, and it seems attaching a photo is not an option. Perhaps as suggested above, use the private message to exchange email addresses and provide photos via email.

Maybe someone new needs a number of posts first, but the private messaging screen I get both for send and replay include the same link, quote, pic, etc that a regular posting does. The quick reply also has them.

Are you sure? Mine does not permit attachments.

It didn't allow me to host on site like you can with posts but appears you can link to a URL. You might be able to do a dummy post somewhere to upload a pic and get the site URL for it and link that.

The pic showed in my message panel.

On edit, it also shows in my sent message panel.

Strange.
So, presumably one could create an album on the site and link to the pics in it via url.

I haven't tried that, but it sure would seem like you would be able to do it. You could host it here or elsewhere as long as you get a URL to use to link it.

That’s what I have done, since I do not use a photo hosting website and I find the in-site albums clunky to create, access, and view. It’s not particular to this site; all Social Media forums share that private messaging limitation.

Even e-mail addresses and URLs are a problem for new members, who have to accumulate a certain number of posts before they are allowed to include hot links in posts or messages. It’s an anti-spam measure. Workaround is to spell out part of the e-mail or URL- johndoe at gmail dot com- so it doesn’t turn into a clickable to link.
