Can't copy from address bar

I ran into something I have never seen before. I have the latest version of Firefox.

Northern Arizona Wind and Sun site comes up on the address bar text in green instead of black and has the padlock on it showing secure. According to the Firefox site this means it has a higher level certificate than if just the padlock was there.

The problem is that I can't highlight and copy the address to paste into something else as a link. No way to type over it either. Or delete it. It looks to be totally locked up. I did finally manage to copy it by going in about 4 layers by right clicking the padlock, but that is a PITA all the time.

Anybody got a workaround for this, or even run across it?

if not try stretching the URL field - I can copy no problem FF 54.0.1

Thanks, Marko, that is what is going on.

I have all my toolbars on one line, so the address and search bars are quite short, especially the address bar.

What is interesting is the the green part of the address won't let me click on it to get a curser to scroll to the black part. I had tried that before. I went into the toolbar setups and made the address bar longer and I finally got the first letters in black on the bar when I got long enough. Then I could click on them to get a curser or highlight the entire rest of the address to copy.
