Default Wiperso motor

I have to replace wiper motor
Any idea as to how the old one is removed
Does the metal piece across full width of hood and about 8" across between windshield and motor need to be removed first
Any help as usual would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Ann
I as usual have a number of things to be repaired/replaced
I am in dog rescue in Windsor Ontario and last weekend
The road trek, my dog and I made a run to Knoxville to pick
Up 8 little rescues from high kill shelter to bring back to
Canada to start their new life and the motor ran strong and
Barely used a drop of oil for which I am so thankful beings
I do this by myself

I don't know about that motor, but I'm impressed that you would tackle it yourself!

Good on you!

depending on manufacturer the process will vary

1 st step get a manual- cdn tire has them

2nd test that you have power to the motor when the switch is on

3rd if you have power, on most models the linkage to the wipers is released from the cam eccentric by pulling a spring clip ( and maybe bushings)- then usually 3 bolts hold the motor in place.
possible the cam eccentric needs to be swapped over to the new motor.

some models are under the dash- most are under the hood- mounted on the firewall

Dodge road trek 1992 it's under the hood sounds like a bigger job then just removing the wiper motor ugh

At the nine minute mark you get a perfect view of the wiper motor (Also with the screenshot above! How convenient). It is the device at the top middle of the back of the engine compartment.

But are you sure it's the motor? Turn the ignition on but do not start the van. Turn the wipers on and lean into the cowling (the vents above the hood). Can you hear the wiper motor running?

Yes? You need a new wiper bushing, not too hard to do and that video shows you how.
No? You need to make sure the wiper motor is getting power before attempting replacement. If you cannot check for this then you might need a mechanic.
